I escorted her across Celtic Football Ground where she met colleagues from Strathclyde Fire Brigade who were to present her with a cheque for the games. Very pleasant and was most grateful to the Fire Brigade for the donation.

I took Grandmaster Villari's Shaolin Kenpo Kung-Fu in the 1980's also. In San Diego. I enjoyed the workouts and gaining knowledge. I was under the impression that he passed away years ago from a heart attack. This was when He and Charles Mattera split up the partnership. I Wish him well on his journey.

He was a great grandmaster, I went to a Fred Villari School when I was younger. I went on to study with grandmaster George Pesare, The teacher of Professor Nick Cerio, I will always be grateful that I started out in an SKK school as a child and guided me throughout my life

I knew of him and his system, and even trained in it briefly. He definitely was a legend and had some interesting innovations in how Kenpõ-based arts and concepts were taught. I wasn't aware of his passing, so my condolences to you.

I wonder if he got to train under William Chow?

Thank you very much for pointing that out. I achieve a black belt in 1994 under the Steve LaVallee karate system. When one of my old instructors began training in JKD And I eventually became one of his students. When he started teaching I went to Wing Chad which I love. Then life got in the way and I was not able to continue. Now I am back training in traditional Shaolin Kempo and also I like it a lot I noticed that many techniques will not work in reality based situations. I have often felt that gun and knife defences should only be taught at the highest level so that critical thinking will be in place. Any novice that thinks they can properly defend from a knife or a gun is looking to be killed.

I studied Grandmaster Fred Villari's "Shaolin Kempo Kung-Fu" in San Diego years ago. I never got the Black Belt but I learned a lot and used it to good purpose. I recommend Kempo over any other style I've tried. Combined with "Braz. Jiu-Jitsu" you have a very strong self defense system.

Almost every other karate guy against knife attack: "do a wrist lock kata" Jim Brassard: "don't make me take off my belt!!"
